player numbers tend to either go up or decline. patches sometimes ruin the game like in this current version alot of people crash after round win or 3rd round ect. the dev team has told us what they have planned, mind you these are big things but it appears to be a slow progression process so fans get restless at the little progress being made for what ever reasons, and rebellious due to well the game which still has its share of flaws. supporting this mod is just about the same way you play the mod, slow and patiently. the numbers as i said arent stable, cos well people grow tired of the mod, move on to other games or games which have just come out (ins mod survived arma2 and operation flashpoint 2 and americas army 3, but has suffered since mw2 came out) also mod flaws, or just give up on the mod.
the community is strong in a sense, alot complain but they still stay cos they enjoy the mod and theres nothing else out that simulates the experience better. also alot of the community have been playing it since it was first released and the community itself is made up of older blood (new blood being people who have just introduced themselves to the mod), i myself have not always been active on these forums but have been playing the mod since it was released. i must also say the real fun is not only on a pub server but in clan matches.

It's dieing...
Back in 2.1RC Ins had hundreds of servers and many players, now ins isnt working on a wide variety of systems. The community is some aspects is good but in others its dead.

But wouldnt all of this be up to the community. I mean community recruitment, ESL development and/or launch of new INS tournaments?

QUOTE(Vilkacis @ Dec 16 2009, 04:25 PM) This community is dead... we don't even have knives!!! The only place you will find people is playing the same map 24/7 Sinjar...
Btw last time i tried americas army (the new one) that it just plane sucked hard (despite looking way way better then insurgency)... would rather play checkers. ummm steam friends? there are servers with people, just you need to be on at the right time. we DID have knives, wanna know why they were scrapped? cos they fucking sucked, took 3-4 stabs til the other guy died, by that time he just shot you, also in ins mod when are you going to use a knife anyway? if your close enough to stab then your pretty much dead unless you shoot first.

Ya their were knives when i first started playing insurgency. Why does everyone assume that they are all elite because they knew about them before. The reason they were removed was dumbass insurgents charging with just a knife into Sinjar A objective and getting owned every time. The devs thought it to be unrealistic... i disagree.. realistic is doing what I would see appropriate at the time. If i want to sneak up on someone for a silent kill... i.e. stab the mofo in the skull with a knife... then i will do so. Otherwise i'd shoot them with a suppressed m4 and call it a day. O right this is just some mod... not actually realistic. Nvm then... will check back on this mod in a few months in hopes of some cool weapon additions for the marines... till then will be playing mw2, doing work etc.

And last I checked, regular Marine grunts don't used silenced M4s. This mod isn't just about cool weapons, it's about realism (immersion). If you're going to be pissy because this mod doesn't have 1337 Del74 F0rce wep0nz, silencers and insta-kill knives, then go back to playing MW2. You sure won't be wanted around here.Wait, better idea. This.
