The framerate drop only concerns the surrounding (around the scope) when the scope is in use. but not inside the scope itself (lense)
so with scoped weapon like M14, al quadesiah and L42A1 its not a problem because you don't really use the surrounding view when your scope is in use : the scope occupes 3/4 of the screen.
but with the m4a1 aimpoint the fps drop is much more incapacitating since you need the surrounding to quickly aquire your target.
for example with the M4A1 iron-sight view I get an average of 45-50 fps, with the aimpoint view i only get 25-30 fps. nearly divided by 2. !
Yup, I remember. I just had a framerate that never dropped below 40 or so with the 1.5x aimpoint so it didn't bother me. But the 50% reduction seems about right, I usually get around 90 fps in open areas without the scope.
