In order to proceed, you must agree to the following:
Welcome to the Insurgency Community Forums! We hope to provide a safe, friendly environment to discuss the INS mod. While we will try to be as accommodating as possible to make this a fun and welcoming community, there have to be guidelines that keep order. We love our community members and appreciate how your existence is what makes this mod possible, we also have to occasionally make the decision to discipline or even exclude those members who choose to be hostile, abusive, or provocative.
So, we've come up with these community rules to give our members guidelines on how we expect them to behave. If a member does step out side of the boundaries the rules set, then disciplinary action will be taken against them. The moderation team follow the following rules very closely.
General
-Rudeness, insults, flaming, provocative posting, harassment, trolling, and baiting are all prohibited. Any sort of abusive language towards members and staff will not be tolerated. We encourage discussion and debate on issues (both related and unrelated to Insurgency). We understand that not everyone considers the same things offensive, but we will punish malicious intent. We expect you to exercise judgment in what is acceptable. People have rights to their opinion. If you do not like an opinion then express it politely and courteously. If you are unsure of what is safe to post, please PM the head moderator (Broadsword)
- Members are not to be discriminated against by cause of their age, gender, race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, marital status. Should any such harassment or intimidation occur, the offender will be appropriately punished.
- Disrespect of Insurgency staff (including via the private message and email systems) is not tolerated and will be punished severely. Do not question the authority or judgment of INS staff in public. If you have a disagreement with a member of the INS staff, PM him about it; if you feel the matter requires more attention, PM the Head Moderator for moderators or the Project Leaders for developers.
- Respect the Development Team. They work very hard to fit in the mod with their everyday lives. Progress may be slow at times, and the mod may also suffer release delays. Please be considerate in your opinions of this. It is expected also that the mod will receive criticism. Please make it ‘constructive’ and polite. Disrespect to the development team will result in harsh punishment. This also includes saying that another game is going to ruin INS or put us out of players.
-Topics such as the war in Iraq, religion, politics and anything related to the military are not typically allowed. However in order to allow for variety in the forum, the moderators do allow such threads to be made, which are very closely moderated. The moderators have the right to lock any thread on these issues as they see fit to do so, and without explanation. Please think about what you are posting. If you are unsure, PM the head moderator.
- Please refrain from posting trolling, nonsense and meaningless posts, topics and poll; that contain one word/ smilie, posts consisting only of smilies, acronyms or other such meaningless combinations. These are considered spam. Also, please refrain from just quoting another post unless you wish to discuss it further (this means that Quoted For Truth or QFT is considered spam unless you elaborate further).
-Please do not double post, use the edit function to amend the previous post made.
-Please try to use correct spelling and grammar.
- Advertising is not tolerated in any form without prior explicit authorization from the head moderator or Developer. This includes any posts, threads, polls, links, PMs or emails encouraging members to go to a certain site, pay for a product, or perform a service not related to insurgency or the topic of the discussion at hand.
- Please use discretion in posting about sexual or graphic topics. We can allow a certain degree of discussion on sexual or graphic topics, but the thread must be marked in the title as "NSFW: Not Safe For Work" so that members who do not wish to see that kind of discussion can easily avoid it. We prohibit images, movies, or other media that contain genitalia, female nipples, realistic pornographic representations, or explicit gore. The INS moderating team will be the sole arbiters of what is excessively graphic.
- Discussions of illegal activities, such as drug use or media pirating are prohibited. Any links or advice facilitating such behavior will be severely punished. This forum is subject to the rules governing InvisionBoard, and we cannot risk them shutting us down. Most of the members are American, Canadian, British, or European, and are thus subject to the laws of their respective nation.
- Members are restricted to only one account only (if you desire to have your member ID or username changed, PM an administrator, DO NOT make a second account). If you are having trouble accessing your account, PM or email an administrator or the webmaster. Any member who activates a second account will have both accounts locked and your IP address blocked, regardless of the circumstance. If you know that two accounts will share an IP, PM an administrator. They will take time to make sure the related accounts are not locked.
- Do not be a "backseat moderator" in these forums. If you find another member violating the rules, you can inform a moderator via PM or the "report post" function; or you can PM that member.
- This is not a forum where free speech is a right. We will make ever effort to extend the privilege of open discussion to our members, but we may also censor out that which the moderation team deems offensive or disruptive. Do not assume that your post was removed due to personal bias or malice on the part of the moderators.
- The nature of this forum's membership can be quite harsh, occasionally. The members here can heap criticism onto anything while mocking it, and as long as they aren't outright hostile or personally insulting, this falls within the rules. As such, don't say anything you aren't willing to defend in a civil manner. Just about everything is open to debate, and while we ask for sensetivity, we will tolerate a certain amount of disagreement as long as it isn't angry or demeaning.
